High Rise Rescue Kit

forsyth_barr_lowerNeed an emergency evacuation kit to evacuate from your building in the event of an earthquake?

Following the structural collapse of stairwells in several buildings in the 22 February 2011 Canterbury Earthquake, we have put together several High Rise Building Rescue Kits.

The kits enable building  occupants an alternative emergency option in the event of stairway failure. Depending on the height above ground the options are either a flexible double ladder system or a rope rescue system.

Both are pre-rigged ready to install. For futher information contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or telephone 04 232 5363.

The kits reflect the real life event in which recreational mountaineer John Haynes found his skills came in more than useful during the February earthquake in Christchurch. Haynes was one the 15 trapped in the Forsyth Barr building (inset picture), after part of the building collapsed. Using emergency supplies that staff had installed in the building, following 9/11, Haynes put his skills to good use, belaying 15 people down 3 1/2 floors to a car park where they could escape to the ground.

In this video you can hear the experience of Erica Lennie who spent four and a half hours on the eighth floor of the Forsyth Barr building...
